8 Red, 8 Yellow, 8 Orange and 8 Warm have taken part in three sessions. The first session was based on the effects that alcohol and cigarettes have on the body. Firstly, the students drew around their body twice. Then on the first body they added the vital organs, such as the brain, liver, kidney, lungs, stomach and heart. They then watched a couple of clips based on how these organs are affected by alcohol and smoking. On the second body they were given pictures of how the body is affected from consistent abuse. Students then considered reasons why people become addicted.

The second session began with the students participating in a relaxation, visualization technique, where I take them on a journey to the beach. This is to free their mind, let go of any tension and become calm and peaceful. The room was really peaceful and the students seemed to enjoy the experience. Then we asked the students to place some images on paper of what they liked and did not like to look at. This led on to some information about body image. It is important students understand there is no such thing as perfection and that they appreciate who they are.

The third session focussed on the safety issues involved in using social media. We looked at staying safe and the potential dangers of the internet. It was then over to the students to create a piece of work, either drama, film or a presentation on what they had learnt and discovered throughout the day.

"I found the healthy body day quite emotional! Watching insanely skinny girls being so unhappy with their figure or seeing that state that smokers body end up like was really upsetting. I suppose in a way it isn't something we take seriously enough. We know it's out there but we don't really do anything about it." - Ellyn  8 Yellow
