Mounts Bay was delighted to host a Careers Fair event for Year 11 students on Monday supported by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. This enabled students to have access to advice and guidance with local and national employers to support their college application forms and future career plans. We were proud to have attendance from Pirate FM, Barclays Bank, Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, Kier Construction, Focus Technology, Cornwall Marine Network to name a few of the employers in addition to support from Penwith, Truro and Cornwall College. Students were interviewed on their future career plans by Pirate FM which we hope to make a presentation of, and took advantage of inspiring demonstrations of 3D printers, computer technology and a mechanical robot.

Students were encouraged to register on the Find an Apprenticeship website and had the opportunity to learn more about what apprenticeships involve. Students who had a preference for a vocational pathway were able to take advantage of a workshop delivered by the Chamber of Commerce aimed at raising awareness of employability skills to help prepare them for the world of work.

Students participated really well in the event and the Chamber reported how impressed they were with Mounts Bay students - polite, smart, engaging and inquisitive, so thank you to Year 11 for representing the Academy so well.
